Tonight we're going to party like it's 1999

Yeah, they say two thousand zero zero party over
Oops out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999. Yeah

Remember New Year's Eve 1999? Prince summed it up pretty good. Everyone raised a glass because who knew if the Millenium Bug was going to bring a party to and end at strike at the stroke of midnight. Well, that happy melancholy sums up our going-away shindig perfectly.

Over 50 of our closest friends turned up at the Cadillac Lounge to raise a glass (erm many glasses) to our departure. But just as many wondered when we'll be back and if we'll make it (just kidding, Mom).

Seeing so many people there from so many places was truly overwhelming. Who knew so many people would miss us? And who knew there were so many people for us to miss?

Liz and Adrian, this is your life. And here's to the rest of your life.

how exciting! Can't wait to read how the start of your trip goes...I'm leaving in two weeks and the excitement (and nerves) are pretty much reaching fever pitch.

Wonder if are paths will actually cross when we're on the road (my schedule isn't quite as well mapped out as yours, but it currently looks like we'll be in Huaraz, Peru at the same time).

Thanks, Geoff. It may look really buttoned down, but our itinerary is an ideal scenario. But if I know there's a friendly face waiting in northern Peru on a certain day, we'll definitely try to meet up.

well we'll be able to keep track of where we both are via our blogs, and i'm sure we can arrange something if it looks like we're nearby.

Just saw your comment over at my blog - and it certainly feels like it is a good time to be escaping advertising, doesn't it? (although I am worried for my colleagues).

Congrats guys - I'm excited for you! We'll be following along!

Geoff, I too am quietly concerned about many of my friends. But I've told them all that they're welcome to join us if they also need to escape.

Gillian, thanks. Maybe we'll also cross paths at some point. Good luck in your last month or so. Just a warning - it will speed up exponentially. So if you're a procrastinator like me, stop it. :)

Thanks for the 'shove' - I am a 'pressure prompted' person!! I'll try to take heed.
